Broadly speaking, our understanding of glass fiber has always been confined to inorganic non-metallic materials. For instance, its mechanical strength is particularly high, and its heat resistance and corrosion resistance are also particularly good. Admittedly, no material is perfect. Fiberglass also has its drawbacks that cannot be ignored, namely, it is not wear-resistant and prone to cracking. Therefore, in practical applications, we should play to our strengths and avoid our weaknesses.

The raw materials for glass fiber are readily available, mainly consisting of discarded old glass or glass products. Glass fiber is particularly thin. More than twenty glass monofilaments are equivalent to the thickness of a human hair. Glass fiber is usually used as a reinforcing material in composite materials. In recent years, as people's research on glass fiber has become increasingly in-depth, it has played an increasingly important role in our production and life.

According to the different compositions, uses and properties of glass fibers, they can be classified into different grades. The composition of commercial glass fibers in the world is as follows:

E- Glass
It is borate glass and is also known as alkali-free glass in daily life. Because of its many advantages, it is widely used. It is the most widely used one at present. Although it is widely used, it also has inevitable disadvantages. It reacts easily with inorganic salts, and thus is difficult to store in an acidic environment.

C- Glass
In actual production, it is also known as medium-alkali glass, which has stable chemical properties and good acid resistance. Its disadvantages are low mechanical strength and poor electrical performance. Different places have different standards. In the domestic glass fiber industry, there is no boron in medium-alkali glass. However, in the foreign glass fiber industry, they produce medium-alkali glass containing boron. Medium-alkali glass not only has different contents, but also plays different roles at home and abroad. Medium-alkali glass is used in glass fiber surface MATS and glass fiber rods produced abroad. In production, medium-alkali glass is also active in asphalt. In China, the objective reason is the low price.
