Key points for Quality Control of external wall insulation

Technical preparation
The construction plan, technical and safety briefings have been completed and presented as required.

2. The layout drawings of each facade have been completed as required.

3. Sample leading: Before large-scale construction, a sample should be made first. Only after being inspected and approved by all parties and signed for confirmation can large-scale construction proceed.



Material control
1. Select the material, thickness and fire resistance rating of the insulation board in accordance with the drawing requirements. The selection of bonding mortar should be compatible with the insulation board. The surface mortar for external insulation, alkali-resistant glass fiber mesh fabric (referred to as mesh fabric), anchor nails and galvanized steel wire mesh should comply with relevant regulations.

2. Materials used for external insulation construction shall enter the site as required. Insulation boards, adhesives, alkali-resistant grid cloth, and crack-resistant mortar shall have factory certificates of conformity and type inspection reports, and a re-inspection report of qualified inspection shall be obtained.

Items and contents to be re-examined:

① Bonding mortar: Bonding strength;

② External insulation: compressive strength, thermal conductivity, density, combustion performance;

③ Mesh fabric: Mechanical properties, corrosion resistance;

Note: The report for bonding mortar will be available in about 30 days, and for insulation boards and grid cloth, it will be available within one week.

3. The time interval from production to use of the insulation board should meet the aging period requirements in the user manual to prevent surface cracking caused by the shrinkage of the insulation board after it is installed on the wall. (EPS at room temperature for 42 days, steam cured at 60 degrees for more than 5 days)

4. The waterproof coating used for the junction between the infill wall and the main structure and the sealing of bolt holes shall be inspected and accepted upon entry as required.

5. The types of fireproof isolation belts generally include: rock wool, foam cement board, expanded glass microsphere insulation mortar board, and foamed ceramic insulation board. The combustion performance grade of the core material of the fireproof isolation belt insulation material is Grade A.

6. Alkali-resistant coated fiberglass mesh fabric: Specification is 5×5mm, and ≥ 160g/m2;

7. Insulation nails are generally composed of three parts :① A nylon sleeve with a diameter of usually 8mm; ② The galvanized steel screws inside the casing should be anchored to the wall with a length of no less than 50mm. ③ The nylon disc in front of the casing (used to cover the insulation board) is divided into standard type and reinforced type. The diameter of the standard type disc is 50mm (used for general insulation boards), and the diameter of the reinforced type disc is 100mm (used for fire isolation belts).
